YSL ADDS JEWLERY TO THE ADDITION..

Stefano Pilati's latest additions offer low-key versions of the house's high-fashion designs. The distinguished designer shot the arty look book himself for his third Edition 24 collection, a mix of ensembles focused on versatility and refinement. New to the lineup this season is the much-anticipated debut of jewelry, which he created in collaboration with L.A.-based designer Annie Costello Brown. It comprises 14 organic yet elegant necklaces made of leather and metal, and it features stunners in everything from strong geometric shapes to ethnic, fringed objets d'art. Their dark, neutral palette makes them the perfect accoutrements for the layered day-to-evening looks in Edition 24.
This set of separates offers a more low-key version of the venerated house's high-fashion designs. The key pieces include standouts like a weather-resistant trench coat, stylish skirts, lightweight blouses, and other easy essentials. Pilati sums up the vision for this special collection thusly: "Edition 24 presents a more generous conception of luxury -- a functional wardrobe involving a wide research of fabric and volumes that is in boutiques for one year and can be mixed with other collections without losing its fashion relevance."

Yeah! Anna Sui For Target

We heard the best news this morning, thanks to WWD. Target has just announced Anna Sui is the latest designer to sign up as part of their Designer Collaboration series. We’ll have to wait until September 13th to get our hands on the collection when it launches online and in 250 stores but it seems Ms. Sui is a Gossip Girl fan at heart. She’s using Blair and the gang as inspiration for her Target line and we can’t wait to see how she takes their NYC style and tweaks it for the masses. Would Queen B approve?

Diesel Makes Splash In Toronto

Diesel fans take note: their new store houses more than just appparel. Diesel sunglasses, jewelry, shoes and purses are all available at the two-storey location and we highly recommend popping in for a peek at Diesel’s Black Gold collection (a slightly higher-end line that includes the hottest cream blazer we have yet to see this summer), their slew of gorgeous leather handbags and clutches in the softest leather imaginable and their stunning array of shoes, including a pair of killer black cut-out booties that we saw on many a girl’s foot that night.

Dolce and Gabanna Deny Taxy Evasion

They may be the toast of Cannes, but Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are certainly not getting any extra special treatment when it comes to paying their taxes. The design duo could be facing $1.12 billion for tax evasion. The controversy surrounds the sale of their brands Dolce & Gabbana and D&G to their Luxembourg-based holding company Gado Srl in 2004. The pair claim they only received $447.8 million from the transaction, and paid what was owed to authorities. The authorities on the other hand claim the market value of the brands was worth a whote lot more than a pesky $450 million and therefore are investigating the boys for tax evasion. The designers have responded with a statement proclaiming their innocence, stating “It’s a paradox! Since when does one have to pay taxes on money one never actually collected? It’s an absurd demand based on a completely abstract calculation.

Carlos Franchi At Target

Following in the footsteps of Anya Hindmarch, Hayden Harnett and Botkier, Carlos Falchi is the next designer to do a line of affordable, limited edition handbags for mass retailer Target. WWD reports that Mr. Falchi’s line will hit stores and target.com on October 11 and will be available until December 27th. The line is said to include “faux snakeskin handbags in jewel tones such as plum and teal with contrasting shades of brown, black and gray. Some handbags will utilize collage or patchwork techniques”. No word on the price point but since it’s Target, we’re sure they’ll be super affordable!

1969 All Over Again At Gap

We wanted to make Gap denim relevant and cool again,” Patrick Robinson said last night at the relaunch of the iconic American brand’s 1969 collection. “This is almost two years in the making.” The designer and his team completely overhauled the existing less-than-adventurous silhouettes, and come August, the Gap customer will have access to perfectly faded boyfriend jeans, rinse-wash skinnies, vintage-inspired bell-bottoms, and an elegant extra-long boot-cut—all in premium denim fits and with $69 price tags. Robinson also turned out little jackets and shrunken vests, as well as a quilted denim-chambray sleeveless puffer that’s sure to be a must-have fall piece. Canada's Fashion Week

Today officially marks the first day of Toronto Alternation Arts & Fashion Week taking place until April 24th. Showcasing more than just fashion, FAT highlights the work of 200 of the most innovative fashion designers, visual artists, musicians, performers and dancers from across Canada. Tickets are $20/day and $55/week in advance or $25/day at the door. Which i can say is pretty cheap for a fashion show. So people if you can, get there to the Distillery District and go see what some of Canada’s hottest talent has to offer!

After hosting slews of events last season in New York, Milan, and Paris, Roberto Cavalli deserved a little downtime–so last weekend, he traveled to Miami to unwind…and open his new store in Bal Harbour! So you know after browsing the net i see that Balmain wear is hot! Balmain's black military jacket is given a super-luxe military edge with strong shoulders and double-breasted detail. The denim style can be worn with a round neck tee and skinny leg black jeans. I think you should wear both with acid wash jeans for the strongest take.

2009 MENSWEAR TREND: GOTHIC

Okay I think this style is something like Goth Ninja/Batman meets Rick Owens/Dorian Gray meets Damir Doma/Japanese rock star, whatever you call it, it's hot and it's growing.

One of the biggest yet somehow underground driven trends in the last couple of years has been the Goth Ninja; and it's growing as a fashion trend in 2009. The figure hugging, black clad youths are perhaps the biggest consumers of the lesser celebrated designers.

The line between the office shoe and the fetish heel has become increasingly blurred; while the popularity of the ubiquitous Herve Leger bandage dress has simultaneously become widespread, meaning the super-short and super-tight is more commonplace than ever. Richie Rich!! Rocks Out Miami Fashion Week

It might not have been anything like sitting front row at Paris fashion week shows, but bet it was way more fun. Celebrities, music, Fall ‘09 Fashion and the beautiful Miami weather made Rock Fashion week the place to be . It was the place to be and celebrities like Idris Elba (who DJ’d for the Richie Rich fashion show), Fat Joe, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Pepa from Salt-n-Pepa, Fergie, Boris Kodjoe, and Cicely Tyson amongst others were all in attendance.

­ RICHIE RICH ­With Idris Elba on the 1’s and 2’s, this show had the same buzz and excitement that the fashion duo known as Heatherette use to bring to us every season at NYC Fashion Week. Clearly still a force to be reckoned with since branching out on his own, Richie Rich brings us a collection that tells a story of a cool punk rock chic who grows up and becomes a polished women. So now something for the men..it absolutely frustrates me when i see guys still wearing baggy jeans??? Hello that look has been played out years ago. Now if you want a nice comfortable fit jean that you could probably style with a vintage tee or flannel. Than 514's are definitily those jeans for you. I know that personally my boyfriend and his friends has several pairs of these jeans because they're a great cut and they fit well. Not so skinny that you look like you're trying to prove a point, and certainly not too baggy to dress up. They also hold up well to constant wear and abuse. Levi's has a winner with this one.

Okay so tell me what do you guys think about the new trend of bleached Jeans?? this in my opinion can be very hot with a nice screen tee and a pair of pumps or round toe flats. But every individual has their own personal style.. so dress it up how you like it but here are a couple of styles! and just because there the hot new look Sometimes the price tag on a pair of jeans is beyond the budget, but you feel a magnetic force pulling you toward purchasing them anyway. “I feel It’s like 1989,” proclaimed Vera Wang at her spring 2010 bridal presentation this morning. In my opinion I think the iconic designer was not referring to the look of the gowns, but the prices. Dresses that retailed for around $13,000 last season are now in the $7,000 range (the result of tireless work and research in order to bring the same quality and intricacy at more affordable prices; some gowns will retail for less than $3,000). Wang, who’s coming up on her 20-year anniversary as a bridal designer, says that designing wedding-wear is like “mental gymnastics,” allowing her to flex her muscles in a way that Ready-to-Wear doesn’t. This most recent collection reveals different layers and details from every angle. The perfectly sewn gowns look unfinished and disheveled. As Wang describes it, “It’s as if the dresses have gone through the washing machine,” creating an organic feel. This season, the designer made one of her career-long dreams come true, creating a black wedding dress. And what better time to do it? If the newly lowered prices aren’t enough to put a smile on your face, Wang’s frothy concoctions—also in pink and green—will make you unabashedly optimistic. Dont you agree??

The Fashion Show premieres on Bravo on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Fifteen professional designers will compete in this fashion creative competition series for a chance to have their designs sold in the retail market and win a $125,000 prize.
Internationally acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi shares hosting duties with four-time Grammy Award-winning performer and actress Kelly Rowland. Mizrahi and Rowland will also serve as judges alongside fashion luminary and Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion, Fern Mallis.
Each week the designers will be put to the test and will have to face off in two challenges – the Harper's Bazaar Mini Challenge, judged by the magazine's Special Projects Director Laura Brown, and the elimination challenge. In the end, America will choose which contestant will have a clothing line available for retail and win the $125,000 prize.

Baker's Downfall

Bakers Footwear Group Inc. continues to be plagued with financial trouble, evidenced by the St. Louis-based firm’s 93 percent earnings slide in the fourth quarter, reported on Wednesday.Bakers’ net income totaled just $500,000, or 7 cents a diluted share, for the quarter ended Jan. 31, 2009, versus $7.3 million, or $1.03, in the fourth quarter of last year (which included a gain of $4.8 million, or 67 cents a diluted share, from the early termination of an operating lease).The company’s independent accounting firm also issued a coinciding audit warning of an “existence of conditions that raise substantial doubt about whether the company can continue as a going concern.”
